Wonderful. Mum got me my 1st set of drums via a catalogue (low end Hoshino 3 piece) at 15. I hid them from my Dad in a wardrobe- set them up and packed them away each night after school before he got home from work. Then my neighbours grassed me up. Who'd have thought?! I was banished to the shed where they rusted away. But I didn't give up. I bought a kit with part of my university grant and when I left I borrowed money off of my very reluctant Dad - (I'd kept my part of the deal by finishing university) bought a set of Gretsch and Ludwig drums with Zildjian cymbals - moved to a dodgy hoyse (squatting in the kitchen!) and started my rock and roll journey. 35 years later - with a break of a few years in the middle - I'm still going. Like you Tony I'm still in touch with a lot of people I started out with. Lost one or two as well. It's addictive isn't it? I know, it's only Rock n' Roll, but I like it. A lot.
I was so much older then; I'm younger than that now
Great piece fellah, almost had me filling up👻
Cheers fella, appreciate your comment - check out my new post on The Pistols!
